A Very Hot Day!

Wednesday 5th July 2017 at Tibberton.
A beautiful blue early morning sky. It's going to be hot today!
R had discovered that there is a branch of Maplin Electronics about 15 minutes walk from here and he set off to acquire a "few bits" of his own (of the inedible variety).
How quiet is this canal; we only saw two boats moving all day. Lock 13 and it is still possible to see the Malvern Hills in the far distance.
Even though we are only a few miles from the centre of Worcester, we are already surrounded by farmland as far as the eye can see.
The sun was very hot and we both tried to take it easy but, with very little shade around the locks we had to drink lots to avoid getting dehydrated.
Quite a lot of restoration work has clearly been done on these locks, including these new steps built in the old fashioned way.
"Yeuk" said M as we approached the noisy M5 bridge just above the lock.
While behind us, was a much more agreeably rural sight crossing the bridge below the lock.
As we moored up for the day by Tibberton Bridge, we were amused to see that the chap on the boat in front had set up a paddling pool for his dogs (M thinks perhaps it should be called a 'piddling pool'!). Our first thought was to go and join the dogs in the pool because we were both VERY HOT!  (but not if they'd piddled in it, said M).
As it was, we just had a shower to cool off and took it easy for the afternoon.
Today: 3 miles, 8 locks and 3.8 hours.
Trip: 98 miles, 96 locks and 83.6 hours.
