The Great Central Railway Model Exhibition

Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th June 2019 between Crick and Welford
M had to go home for the weekend, leaving R and Guy in charge. M's journey home involved three buses and three trains and took six hours. R took almost as long to take MM up to Welford and both of us got wet because it rained constantly!
R had heard that there was a model rail exhibition in Loughborough this weekend on the Great Central heritage line and decided to spend Friday at the exhibition. M would have loved to go too,  had she not been at home.
The main exhibition was at Quorn on the Grand Central Railway, so this was R's commute on Friday morning.
There were over 30 layouts at the exhibition and the usual plethora of trade stands. One particular layout caught R's attention as it included a fairground with almost all of the different things moving from the hens pecking in the corner, the swings and roundabouts, the train, the vehicles and even the paramedic doing CPR on the unfortunate individual behind the ambulance!
Another very relevant layout featured this staircase lock, although this one was static. R had seen this layout before and liked the detail.
In the pound above the lock was the "Lock-Ness" monster wearing a rather jaunty hat and waiting for an unwary boater to pass.
Back at Welford, R let go and moved MM about six miles back towards Crick, where he stayed for the whole of Saturday.
On Sunday morning, R arrived back at Crick - still in the rain! M arrived back at lunchtime, by which time the sun had come out and she could see MM waiting for her.
Next to the bridge at Crick is an excellent hostelry by the name of "The Moorings" and we sat beside the canal for coffee and cake (for R) and lemonade and chips (for M).
While we were eating, we were being watched by an interested party who thought that he might like some chips if M left any (she didn't).
MM stayed moored at Crick overnight.
Over four days: 24 miles, 2 locks and 12.7 hours (all in the rain).
Trip: 103 miles, 40 locks and 55.1 hours.
