A Magic, Relaxing Summer Day

Tuesday 16th August, 2016 at Church Minshull.
A peerless morning, with a rising sun. The weather looks set fair until the weekend. Hooray!
We realised that we were under the flightpath of aircraft coming into Manchester Airport. Always curious as to where the aircraft have come from, we looked them up on Flightradar24 - this particular Thomson Holiday flight caught our interest because it got to within half a mile of the runway and then overshot and flew round again. Obviously something must have gone awry, as to go-round in a big jet is an expensive exercise!
We cruised the few miles to Church Minshull, which must be one of the loveliest stretches on the waterways. This is the third time that we have moored here and every time the weather has been glorious.
We moored high up on an embankment with fabulous views across the Cheshire Plain to the Welsh hills. How green everything is up here; hardly surprising given that Cheshire is renowned for its dairy herds and pastureland.
Since we were last here two years ago, the local authority has very kindly installed a bench for folk to sit on and enjoy the views. So we moored right beside it!
R sat happily reading in the sunshine.
It was so hot that Guy decided to borrow R's stetson to keep cool.
Later, it was time for a glass of wine, the end of a beautifully relaxed day.
To the east, the nearly full moon, reflected in the water, was rising over the pasture as the cows continued to graze.

To the west, we were treated to a magnificent sunset as the sun sank below the horizon.
Today: 4 miles, 0 locks and 2.0 hours.
Trip: 247 miles, 192 locks and 187.5 hours.
