Pierreponts for Breakfast and a White Cat in the Night.

Tuesday 11th September 2018 in Shillingford.
One cannot visit Goring and not have breakfast at Pierreponts! It's mandatory! You may have noticed that we did only a very short day yesterday - that was solely because Pierreponts does not open on a Monday, so we had to slow down to be here for Tuesday morning!
Not only does Pierreponts offer the best cappuccino in the country (according to R) but the food is excellent too.  Love the egg cosies on R's boiled eggs and Marmite soldiers!  M, of course, had the lorry driver's full English with huge field mushrooms!
Another treat not to be missed is the "Goring Grocer", an incredible deli/grocer's where the offerings are superb. M was really glad that she had just had breakfast or she would have been tempted to spend a fortune here.
After calling in briefly at Capture's offices to say hallo to some of R's former colleagues, we set off through Goring lock mid morning.
Another of Brunel's lovely bridges that we have crossed by train many times.
Tonight's mooring was at Shillingford beside the Bridge Hotel where, remarkably, the moorings (and electricity) are free to customers.
In the early evening, R went into the Hotel for a drink with the couple from the boat next to us, to ensure that we met the criteria as customers!
On his return to MM, he was greeted by a pure white cat that was sitting on our neighbours' boat, it then got up and walked across MM's rear deck before confidently wandering off into the night to see what else it could find - ever the opportunist, in classic feline style!
Today: 8 miles, 3 locks and 3.2 hours.
Trip: 279 miles, 181 locks and 190.8 hours.
