Our return journey from home by train went without a hitch and we were back at Heritage Marina by early afternoon. It's a very pretty little marina, and Darren, the new owner, was very obliging.
R spotted several very large carp swimming around in the marina, some nearly two feet long. R wondered if carp get "hefted" to a particular bit of water like sheep do because we had never seen such a concentration of large fish all close together in open water.
To M's relief, MM's geraniums had survived very well, and even thrived, despite the heat and no water for a week.
We settled our bill for the mooring fees, and included a pair of cooling Magna, before setting off back down towards the junction. It was a short but lovely cruise passing the old chain bridge, which didn't look as if it ever gets used these days.
Our overnight mooring was perfect - so peaceful and birdsong the only sound.
Today: 2 mIles, 1 lock and 1.4 hours.
Trip: 22 miles, 17 locks and 14.0 hours.
