Sunday 9th June 2019 in Braunston.
A very welcome sunny start to the day.
Since MM was built in 2011, she has been serviced every year by Simon, the engineer who was responsible for all her engineering "innards" when she was built. He clearly has a great affection for her and takes great pride in coming back to her every year to service her; and we wouldn't trust her service to anyone else. We had arranged for him to come today and he duly arrived just before 10:00am.
It was great to see Simon, and after tea and biscuits and a lengthy catch up, he set to work. It pleased us greatly to hear him singing to himself, as he was clearly happy in his work.
It takes him a couple of hours as he is very thorough. Afterwards, lunch at The Gongoozlers' Rest was a must.
Adrian called to say that he and Scott's family were cycling over to see us, so we found a table on the grass opposite the café in the sunshine to wait for their arrival. The advance guard, in the form of "Peanut", arrived.
Then came Adrian, Scott, Paula, Amelia and Lachlan.
We were a very jolly crowd having lunch round the table and, as ever, the Gongoozlers' staff did us proud.
After lunch, they all cycled off back to Scott's.
Shortly after, the heavens opened and it poured with rain. They all got soaked but, as Paula later said, getting soaking wet was quite normal for one of their family outings!
A really wonderful weekend full of friendship and laughter.
Today: MM had another days' rest.
