Friday 15th to Monday 18th July 2022 at Aqueduct Marina.
We had left MM in Aqueduct Marina near Nantwich and gone in our different directions for the weekend. R went up to Settle by train for a model railway course on "weathering" models at DCCconcepts. He and his modelling chum Richard not only enjoyed the course but also had a marvellous time, having breakfast at The Dalesman in Gargrave and going on the Embsay Heritage Railway near Skipton.
R's return train journey was prolonged as his original train was cancelled and the replacement train went from Skipton to Crewe via Leeds - a real "round the houses" route setting off in entirely the wrong direction and taking over four hours to complete the journey! But at least he got back to MM before nightfall!
Meanwhile M, back at home in Reigate, had an absolutely wonderful and fairly riotous time at a hugely enjoyable "Singalong G&S Evening" attended by many old friends and familiar faces, and she absolutely loved singing G&S again.
The weather this weekend was blisteringly hot yet, despite gloomy predictions about travelling by train, M had one of the easiest and coolest (the air conditioners all worked) journeys ever back to Crewe on Monday and was pleased to see R waiting for her at Aqueduct.
We took MM out of the marina later that afternoon after M arrived back. Only one lock to do, but it was a narrow lock, so not difficult.
It was quite a deep lock though!
As it was so hot, finding a shady spot to moor was a priority and we were lucky to find the last space under the shade of some trees next to this picnc site.
There were even picnic tables and barbecues right next to us, but it was too hot to cook. Tomorrow it is supposed to get even hotter, so an early night and an early start tomorrow seemed like a good idea.
Today: Just 1 mile, 1 lock and 0.5 hours.
Trip: 282 miles, 169 locks and 147.3 hours.
