Sue Rigby and M get together again after 25 years!

Tuesday 8th October, 2013 at Braunston.
We awoke to a lovely morning with the sunlight shining on the trees.
When M lived here in the 1970s, she became friends with a lovely lady called Sue Rigby, whose son, Greg, was in the same class at St James' Infant School with Elle.  At the time, they used to joke that if Elle had married Greg when she grew up, she would have been Eleanor Rigby!
By pure chance, M noticed in the local Braunston parish magazine that Sue was now the Head Teacher at Braunston Primary School up in the village.  What a shame it would have been to be so close to an old friend and not to get in touch! After a few telephone calls to the school (M got to know Sue's secretary quite well!), Sue and M finally got to talk together and it was arranged that Sue would drop by for tea on MM after school.
As a result, we had an extra day to ourselves here in Braunston. It may be some time before we come back, so we went to say farewell to the ladies at the Gongoozlers' Rest and naturally felt obliged to stay for breakfast!
Any feelings of guilt we may have had as a result of this indulgence (unlikely!), were absolved by washing MM down afterwards. After two nights of mooring under hawthorn trees, MM's roof had a decidedly leafy look.
We also took MM into the marina service bay, did a pump-out and took on water.
Sue arrived at teatime and she hadn't changed at all. M was delighted to see her and the two chatted away as if no time at all had elapsed since they had last seen each other; in fact it was 25 years ago! It was so nice to catch up. It turned out that one of her deputy head jobs had been at the same St James' Infant School where they had met. Sue said it felt very strange to be teaching there, as not only had Greg and Elle gone there, but so had Sue, her mother and her grandmother!
We waved Sue off at about 6:00pm. M hopes it isn't another 25 years before they get together again.
Before supper, we moved MM a few hundred yards up the canal to the other side of the marina entrance so as not to overstay the 48 hour mooring limit.
Today: Just a few hundred yards to re-moor.
