Saturday 9th September 2023 still at Wimboldsley.
Another beautiful misty early morning. So misty, in fact, that the few brave souls who decided to set off had put their tunnel lights on to let people know they were on the move!
As today is forecast to be hottest day of the year so far, we decided not to move but to stay here tonight as well.
R had noticed that some water had got into the front locker going through some of the larger locks, so he took everything out of the locker and then buckets full of water! Perfect weather for everything to dry in the sunshine.
The front locker itself was in good condition with only a very small amount of rust on the welded seam at the back, which R treated with rust converter. In due course he will give it another coat of paint just to be on the safe side.
The hot afternoon was passed quietly before we sat down outside for supper.
As the sun began to set, we sat outside and watched the whole of the Last Night of the Proms over a glass of wine. A great way to spend an evening. Marin Alsop was conducting her third "Last Night", the first being ten years ago (which we also watched on MM at the time). As usual, it was an excellent evening with the second half much livelier than the first!
The sun set as we watched and we stayed watching to the end in the evening light.
Today, MM had a day off from her travels and so did we. A lovely change for us not to have any time pressure to be anywhere in particular.
