Thursday 15th July 2021 between Guildford and Godalming
Today's visitors were Mick and Jackie from Dorking. We have a long boating history together. They bought their lovely narrowboat "Zodiak" some years before we had MM and they were very helpful and supportive throughout the planning and building stages of MM. We picked up endless tips from them and they even heroically took us out on a three day cruise on the Oxford Canal.
They arrived at lunchtime; it was so good to see them again. As with many of our friends, we've not seen much (if anything) of them during the pandemic.
Mick was soon persuaded to take the tiller!
The low bridge at Shalford is now a mandatory photograph for all our visitors! One could almost say it has now become the highlight of each trip!
Lunch was at Godalming wharf, accompanied by a bottle of pink Prosecco courtesy of Mick and Jackie. We chose to eat on MM rather than on the bank this time. With two experienced additional "crew" and the river current running with us, we were back at the water meadows very swiftly.
We all had a cup of tea together before bidding them a fond farewell. What a super day!
Today: 6 miles, 6 locks and 3.6 hours.
Trip: 282 miles, 160 locks and 148.6 hours.
